GEORGIA MAE ELLIS

Georgia Mae Is in her first year of a master’s course at The Royal Northern College of Music, where she also attended as an undergraduate and has been under the tutelage of Mary Plazas throughout. Her masters studies are generously supported by the James and Mary Glass Scholarship, The Annie Ridyard Scholarship for Mezzo Sopranos and the N.W award. She was also this year’s recipient of The Frederic Cox Award for Singing and this will support her second half of her masters next year.

During her time at the RNCM, Georgia Mae has performed in many of the opera productions. Most recently in December of 2019, she appeared as Mère Marie in RNCM’s production of Dialogues des Carmèlites by Poulenc, directed by Orpha Phellan and conducted by Andrew Greenwood. She also covered the main female role of Mrs Jederman in British Youth Opera’s production of Keith Warner’s Scoring a Century, with music by David Blake in the summer of 2019.

Georgia Mae was selected as a member of the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus for four opera’s for their 2020 festival. She was thrilled to have this opportunity to perform where her love of opera began. Due to coronavirus all productions have been cancelled but she has recently been asked to return as a chorus member for the 2021 season.
