SALLY GEORGINA PITTS

Sally is a 24-year-old soprano from North Yorkshire currently based in Manchester. She is studying for her Masters of Music in Performance under the tutelage of Hilary Summers at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). Previously, Sally completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Edinburgh, gaining a First Class Honours degree in French.

During her time in Edinburgh she sang with the University Chamber Choir and the Schola Cantorum of Edinburgh under the baton of Michael Bawtree and Eric von Ibler. In 2015, she was accepted onto the Classical Voice Intensive programme at New York University, spending the summer learning from renowned faculty members such as Dianna Heldman and Harolyn Blackwell-Greer. In 2016, she sang the cover role of Michaela in Edinburgh Studio Opera’s production of Carmen, an experience which solidified her wish to pursue a career in the world of classical singing.

Sally is a lover of art song and is a member of the RNCM Songsters programme, an initiative which encourages its members to explore and perform art song repertoire including Lieder, French Mélodie, and English Song. She sang works by Benjamin Britten for the RNCM lunchtime recital series and Aaron Copland for the RNCM Chamber Music Festival as well as premiering new work by RNCM composer Ho Shan Lam. Alongside singing, Sally is an avid actor and has been a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain since 2011.
